Fillers

Proudly serving Boise, Ada County, the greater Treasure Valley, and beyond.

At Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of dermal fillers, which are minimally invasive non-surgical options for skin rejuvenation. These fillers are designed to fill in fine lines/wrinkles around the nose, cheeks, and mouth. It is an effective method to restore volume and smooth the skin, much like turning a raisin back into a grape by adding volume. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected into your facial skin; they are cost-effective and less intensive than facial surgery. Typically, our dermal fillers achieve the following:

  • Smooth out lines around your mouth and nose, such as parentheses lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and vertical lip lines
  • Enhance and restore skin volume in your temples, cheeks, and jawline
  • Augment thin lips to achieve fullness

We carry the following dermal fillers, and offer consultations to determine which application is right for you.

My dermatologist in Boise recommended Dr. Boerner at Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery years ago. At first, I went to Dr. Boerner for migraine control through Botox. As time passed we started using Botox for wrinkle prevention and fillers to replace lost volume. Frankly, I would not go to anyone else in Boise for cosmetic procedures. Dr. Boerner consistently applies a subtle approach and is not one to overdo things. I am quite picky about my appearance, and never want to look I’ve been to a plastic surgeon! I have sent lots of people to him. I am so happy with my results and give Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery five stars, both Dr. Boerner and the office staff. As a side note, I have had some issues with the office postponing appointments, a problem as I suffer from cluster migraines. It is a good thing that Heather, the cosmetic injector, has availability. Still, I encourage the office to block his time in advance. Dr. Boerner, keep up the strong work with new procedures as they become available!

What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

Dermal fillers can be formulated with substances that are naturally occurring and synthetic. One of the most common key ingredients in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring compound in the skin.

HA plays a significant role in keeping skin hydrated and firm. Depending on their formulation, HA fillers can last from 6 months or longer, after which they are safely absorbed by the body.

Our Dermal Filler Options

We offer several convenient and effective dermal fillers (please reorder so that Restylane and Juvederm are first):

Juvederm Juvederm is a popular HA-based dermal filler that addresses facial signs of aging. This smooth consistency gel can be used to target moderate to severe age lines around your mouth and nose. It can also act as a lip filler for augmenting thin lips.

Juvederm fillers contain lidocaine to numb the treatment region. Since a synthetic version of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid is used for Juvederm dermal fillers, the possibility of encountering allergic reactions is rare.

Juvederm Ultra – Juvederm Ultra XC is mainly used for adding volume to thin lips and treating perioral lip lines (explain what perioral means). Patients can immediately notice the results of the treatment, which can last up to a year.

Juvederm Ultra Plus – Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a dermal filler that helps in smoothing away moderate and deep wrinkles and folds in areas around the mouth and nose. One treatment with Juvederm Ultra Plus is enough to produce optimal results that last for a year.

Voluma Voluma was the first FDA-approved HA filler for plumping hollowed cheeks for people above 21 years. Voluma lifts the skin and increases volume, restoring youthful facial contours. This injectable in the Juvederm family contains Vycross technology, which allows Voluma to last for 18 to 24 months. The Vycross linking enhances the fluidity of the dermal filler, making it very smooth and causing it to move in tandem with your facial expressions. It is a deep-injection dermal filler.

Restylane Restylane is another HA dermal filler and is mainly used to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and creases. The treatment can also increase the volume of your skin and define thin lips. The results obtained from the treatment can last for up to 18 months.

DERMAL FILLER AFTERCARE

After a treatment session with dermal fillers, patients can immediately return to their everyday schedule. These are often known as “lunchtime procedures,” since they are so quick and convenient that patients can get them during their lunch breaks. Dermal filler injections require no recovery time or downtime. Patients may experience minor swelling, bruising, or redness, but all these will subside shortly.
