Proudly serving Boise, Ada County, the greater Treasure Valley, and beyond.

At Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of dermal fillers for our patients. Fillers are an excellent minimally invasive non-surgical option for skin rejuvenation.

Over the course of the natural aging process, fine lines and wrinkles form because the skin tissues begin to thin out. These lines are quite visible around the nose, cheeks, and mouth. Dermal fillers can fill in these wrinkles to restore smooth skin.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are essentially gel-like substances injected into your facial skin to restore lost volume, smooth away age lines and creases, and enhance your facial contours. Many people choose dermal filler treatments to rejuvenate their facial skin because they are more cost-effective and less intensive than facial surgery.

Here’s what typical dermal fillers can do for you:

  • Smooth out lines around your mouth and nose, such as parentheses lines, the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and vertical lip lines
  • Enhance and restore skin volume in your temples, cheeks, and jawline
  • Augment thin lips
My dermatologist in Boise recommended Dr. Boerner at Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery years ago. At first, I went to Dr. Boerner for migraine control through Botox. As time passed we started using Botox for wrinkle prevention and fillers to replace lost volume. Frankly, I would not go to anyone else in Boise for cosmetic procedures. Dr. Boerner consistently applies a subtle approach and is not one to overdo things. I am quite picky about my appearance, and never want to look I’ve been to a plastic surgeon! I have sent lots of people to him. I am so happy with my results and give Idaho Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery five stars, both Dr. Boerner and the office staff. As a side note, I have had some issues with the office postponing appointments, a problem as I suffer from cluster migraines. It is a good thing that Heather, the cosmetic injector, has availability. Still, I encourage the office to block his time in advance. Dr. Boerner, keep up the strong work with new procedures as they become available!

What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

Dermal fillers can be formulated with substances that are naturally occurring and synthetic. One of the most common key ingredients in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring compound in the skin.

HA plays a significant role in keeping skin hydrated and firm. Depending on their formulation, HA fillers can last from 6 months to much longer, after which they are safely absorbed by the body.

Our Dermal Filler Options

We offer several convenient and effective dermal fillers:

Bellafill Bellafill got the approval of the FDA in 2015 as a treatment option for acne scars and facial lines. Unlike most fillers that provide immediate results, this acts more like a stimulating agent. Bellafill is made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres, bovine collagen, and lidocaine (a local anesthetic).

Once injected into your skin, the collagen gel quickly fills your skin and plumps it up. The PMMA microspheres in the filler act as a bio-stimulant, which facilitates the natural regeneration of collagen over the next few months. The treatment creates smoother skin with a natural appearance.

Juvederm – Juvederm is a popular HA-based dermal filler that addresses facial signs of aging. This smooth-consistency gel can be used to target moderate to severe age lines around your mouth and nose. It can also act as a lip filler for augmenting thin lips.

Voluma – Voluma was the first FDA-approved HA filler for plumping hollowed cheeks for people above 21 years. This injectable in the Juvederm family contains Vycross technology, which allows Voluma to last for 18 to 24 months. The Vycross linking enhances the fluidity of the dermal filler, causing it to move in tandem with your facial expressions.

Restylane – Restylane is another HA dermal filler and is mainly used to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and creases. The treatment can also increase the volume of your skin and define thin lips. The results obtained from the treatment can last for up to 18 months.
