Orbital Abscess
Jump To
An orbital abscess involved the collection of pus in the orbital area and is usually a complication of paranasal sinus infection. This might include the spread of infection from sinus cavities, dental work, eye trauma, penetrating injuries, or surgery complications. Symptoms include pain/swelling around the eye, redness, fever, proptosis, vision changes, headaches, and reduced eye movement. Diagnosis is approached through physical examination and confirmed with CT/MRI imaging tests. Treatment involves IV antibiotics, potential surgical drainage of the abscess, and surgery in more complicated cases.
