Caruncular Tumors
Jump To
The caruncle is the small/pink globular spot at the inner lacrimal corner of the eye and contains both oil and sweat glands. The caruncle is the ovoid body at the inner lacrimal corner of the eye and contains both sweat and oil glands.

Caruncle lesions are rare and can be caused by abnormal hair follicles, sebaceous glands, sweat glands, and accessory lacrimal glands. They can resemble lesions of the skin, conjunctiva, or lacrimal gland and can be difficult to diagnose. While most lesions of the caruncle are benign, malignant caruncular lesions are rare but sometimes fatal. Pathology should be prioritized in cases when malignancy is suspected.
