Turn Back the Hands of Time with a S lift in Boise

If you are interested in reversing the hands of time but are not prepared to deal with the downtime of a full facelift, a S lift may be right for you. Also called an S lift or a short-incision facelift, the s lift helps patients smooth wrinkles and tighten sagging skin.

What Is a S lift?

A S lift is a procedure in which a surgeon uses small incisions to lift and rejuvenate the lower face and neck for a more youthful appearance. It is often considered a maintenance procedure since it is used for patients who are just starting to notice signs of facial sagging and wrinkling.

A s facelift is a modified version of the regular facelift and offers a number of advantages. It takes less time to perform and involves much shorter incisions, making it less invasive. Because of this, recovery time is reduced, swelling is minor in nature, and the chance of complications is minimized.

Benefits of a S lift

Patients specifically choose this procedure to address signs of aging with shorter recovery periods. The S-lift, results in:

  • Improved definition of the jawline
  • Reduction in sagging jowls
  • A naturally refreshed appearance with significantly less downtime compared to traditional options
  • Small discreet incisions which are well hidden in the hairline adjacent to the ear.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a S lift?

Ideal S-lift candidates are between the ages of 30 and 60 who have noticed minor drooping around the lower face and the jawline. Patients who want subtle results that look very natural are good candidates for a S lift. If you’re experiencing dramatic sagging in areas like the midface, lower face, and neck, you may be better served by a full facelift.

For more comprehensive results, patients may combine their S lift with procedures like the brow lift, neck liposuction, upper and lower eyelid lifts, laser skin resurfacing, and facial fat transfer. Find out more about your options during your consultation.

How Is the S lift Performed?

Our surgeons perform the S lift using a tiny S-shaped incision made around the ear. This incision is often well-camouflaged by the hairline, resulting in very natural-looking results. Because the incision is so small in comparison to a full facelift incision, the need for bandages after surgery is reduced.

With the help of two pursestring sutures, the fibrous tissue around the muscles of the face is precisely tightened and lifted. Once wrinkles have been sufficiently drawn and the skin looks naturally younger, stitches are used to close the incisions.

What to Expect During Your Recover

It can take up to four weeks to fully heal after S lift surgery. Immediately following the procedure, patients may consider the need for a friend or family member to help for a couple of days in order to get some rest. It will be helpful to sleep with your head elevated for a week to help reduce swelling; use ice packs to keep the swelling and pain at bay; take painkillers and other medications as prescribed.

It is important to follow your surgeon’s instructions on care and incision cleaning. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to evaluate healing and remove sutures once the incisions are healed. Patients will need to stay out of the sun for at least six weeks and apply sunscreen if they are exposed to sunlight, for best results. The full results of your S lift will be visible as soon as all swelling has disappeared.

Frequently Asked Questions about S lift Surgery

  • What is the expected recovery time?

Most patients return to their normal routines within 10 to 14 days. While minor swelling and bruising subside quickly, full recovery can take up to four weeks.
  • Will the incisions be noticeable?

Our surgeons place incisions within the natural contours of the ear. This placement keeps the suture location hidden from view as the skin heals. The incision marks fade with time.
  • How many years do the results last?

Results typically last 5-10 years, depending on your skin health. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle helps preserve your refreshed appearance. While a S lift removes excess skin that creates wrinkles and jowling, it cannot stop natural aging from continuing. It is therefore helpful to have reasonable expectations for the longevity of this surgery.
  • What other procedures can be combined with a S lift?

Many patients combine a S lift with eyelid surgery for more complete facial harmony. Patients might also consider a brow lift or fat transfer to address volume loss in a single surgical session. This integrated approach enables our oculofacial plastic surgeons to expertly address aging throughout the face for balanced results. This is our key to success a comprehensive approach to achieve natural results.
