The Chemical Peel Process
The peel procedure takes about an hour to perform. At the start of the chemical peel session, the skin of the treatment area is cleansed. The hair and eyes are covered for protection. The peel solution is applied to the skin, where it is left to penetrate to the desired depth in the skin layers. You may experience a tingling or a burning sensation depending on the strength of the peel. When the application is removed, the treated skin layers will gradually and naturally peel off and slough away, revealing fresh new skin cells.
Recovery/downtime is minimal and depends on the strength of the chosen peel. The skin takes a week to 10 days to heal after treatment. After your peel, it is important to wear sunscreen and moisturize the skin regularly, and avoid heavy sun exposure until the healing process is complete.
